Each earned a trip to the Indiana High School Athletic Association individual state finals by winning their quarterfinal matches in the Fort Wayne semistate at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
However, the bad news was that Harper could not defend his 215-pound semistate title after losing and suffering an injured shoulder in the semifinal round. Harper (35-3) had to settle for fourth place by giving up an injury default to Prairie Heights senior Dylon Forbes in the consolation finals.
Dillon (21-4) also was dealt a roadblock in his bid for a semistate championship, when eventual champion Northridge junior Drew Graber beat him 8-1 in the semifinals of the 171-pound class.
