Norwell 50, Bellmont 53

The Norwell Boys (3-7) scored 20 more than last game, which is good, but Bellmont did them three better for the Knights seventh loss in a row.

Decatur — Norwell and Bellmont’s boys basketball teams have seen some great battles over the years. But the one that occurred Friday night in Decatur is one that surely will never be forgotten.

Bellmont senior Justin Hall sparked a Braves rally by connecting on four of five three-point attempts in the last quarter. But none was bigger then his last.

After Norwell’s Ryne Otis was called for traveling with 1.5 seconds left, Hall got the inbounds pass, dribbled once to his left, looked at the clock, and threw up a prayer from just beyond the opposite three-point line.

He hit nothing but net, giving the Braves a remarkable 53-50 comeback win while sending the standing-room only crowd into a chaotic frenzy.

Norwell lost the JV and freshman games as well, though not so dramatically.
