Girls lose in OT to Carroll

The 3A number 8 Norwell Girls Basketball Team lost in Overtime, 49-51 to the 4A Carroll Chargers in a tight, conference match.

The Knights (11-3, 3-1) got off to a quick start with a 13-0 run to open the game, eventually building it to 16-5 before the end of the first period. However, the Knights committed six turnovers in the key second quarter which resulted in some easy buckets for Carroll and frustration for the Knights.

In the junior varsity contest, Norwell freshman Caitlyn McGrew hit two free throws with 12 seconds left to give Norwell the victory 32-30. Norwell was led in scoring by Caitlyn Ailor with eight, while McGrew and Brittany Schumm each added seven apiece. Other scorers were Kelsey Kline and Breanna Wilson with four each and Alyssa Smith with two.

Norwell dropped the freshman contest 25-15 to Carroll. Amanda McAfee had nine for Norwell, while Eden Chaney scored four and Amber Haiflich two.
