Gilbert V. “Bud” Gray, 70, of Bluffton, died at 1:23 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Jackson, Mich. to Forrest W. and Gertrude R. (Card) Gray on Jan. 20, 1937, he married Elaine N. Royston in Charlotte, Mich. on Feb. 8, 1958; she preceded him in death on April 21, 2004.
A 1955 graduate of Vandercook Lake High School in Jackson, Mich., Mr. Gray was the founder of AAA Acceptance Corporation, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Markle Church of Christ.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Kurt D. Gray of Markle and Bruce A. Gray of Tocsin; one daughter, Denette S. Holmes of Bluffton; one brother, Richard Gray of Perrinton, Mich.; one sister, Janet Gray of Federal Way, Wash.; three grandchildren, one step-grandson and three step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gray was also preceded in death by a son, Michael B. Gray; a daughter, Dianne Gray; a sister, Joyce A. Peet; and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Markle Church of Christ with Gerald O. Moreland and Brian Lakin officiating. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel and from one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial is at Highland Park Cemetery, in Fort Wayne.
Preferred memorials are to the Church Missions Fund or the Norwell Athletic Department.
