Before the Leo Lions were able to answer, the home-standing Norwell Knights roared out to a 14-0 lead on their way to a comfortable 65-50 victory in girls high school basketball Wednesday night at the Castle.
The Class 3A No. 8 Knights (11-2) were coming off an impressive showing at the Brebeuf Shootout in which they had knocked off then unbeaten No. 1 Wawasee and had lost to No. 7 Plymouth.
Norwell was led by junior Haley Chaney with 15 points, while senior guard Allee Donaghy added 13 and junior center Andrea Vogel tossed in 12 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Chaney was 3 of 4 from three-point range and Donaghy 3 of 6.Once again, the Knights displayed their unselfishness and team depth.
fyi, the girls are averaging 57.5 points a game and are #1 in the NHC , the boys are averaging 45.8 points a game and are last in the NHC. The boys are holding their opponents to 47.3 points a game, the girls are holding their opponents to 44.3 points a game. As you can see, the main difference is in offensive output, not defensive effort.
