Girls Beat East Noble

Norwell 53, East Noble 37. Norwell moves to 14-4 on the season. They won the NHC Conference Title with a 6-1 record having lost only to Carroll in overtime. Two non-conference games remain on the season, Adams Central (4-13) and Southern Wells (12-5).
Norwell, and Chaney in particular, would ensure that East Noble would get no closer. The 5-10 junior had a hand in every point in Norwell’s 8-0 run to close out the first half, notching a pair of assists to accompany a three-pointer as the Knights of Ossian took a 16-point advantage into the locker room.

Chaney finished game-highs in points (24), rebounds (nine), assists (four) and steals (eight).

“Chaney has the ability to do that,” Thornton said. “She got hot tonight, and I thought she was just really aggressive and attacking the basket.”

Congratulations, girls!

Norwell swept East Noble by winning the junior varsity and freshman games.

Caitlyn McGrew scored 15 points to lead the junior varsity to a 41-26 victory. Caitlyn Ailor added seven, Alyssa Smith six, Rachel McAfee four, Kali Herndon four, Breanna Wilson two, Brittany Schumm two and Erin Hayes one.

Amanda McAfee netted 20 to power the freshmen to a 34-17 romp. Amber Haiflich, Eden Chaney and Kelsey Kintz each added four and Rachel Lind had two.
