“It was a tough chess match,” said a very happy Doug Hicks, Norwell’s head coach. “Both teams know each other very well, but everybody played well for us tonight, especially (Jeremy) McGrew.”
McGrew, a junior, seemed to take it upon himself to fill the missing void of fellow junior Drew Imel, who quit the team earlier this week for personal reasons.
McGrew scored a team-high 20 points for the Knights, including 5 of 5 from the free-throw line. In overtime, he made the deciding basket on a lay-up and foul shot to put Norwell ahead for good with 1:30 to go.
Norwell improved to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in the NHC. East Noble dropped to 4-9 and 2-3 in conference play.
