Canterbury: Girls State

Fort Wayne Canterbury won the Girls State Single-A Basketball title on Saturday, defeating University 36-32. Tabitha Gerardot, whose sister, I believe, was a Bishop Luers player during their Championship years, scored 16 points and had 17 rebounds (a record).
Tabitha Gerardot (a sophomore) scored 16 points and grabbed a state Class A record of 17 rebounds as Fort Wayne Canterbury edged University 36-32 in the lowest-scoring state championship game in Indiana girls basketball history.

Both teams had more turnovers than baskets in today's game as they failed to produce the performances that earned each their first trip to the state finals.

Canterbury (21-5) shot only 28 percent from the field and had 23 turnovers and 14 baskets. University (20-7) had 14 baskets and 23 turnovers while shooting 25 percent from the field.

The game was close all the way.
The game would almost have to be close, with so few points scored.
